I’m Not Here
Lately I’ve been drawing a lot of people’s backs. Specifically those in audiences at live music shows. When facing away, my subjects are unaware that I’m studying their physical being. They are too fixated on whatever is happening in front of them. From behind them, I experience the same sights, sounds, smells, temperature and even humidity, but remain unseen. We are together but not one. This is the closest I can come to their experience while recording. Through omitting their faces, these people become anyone.
